By downloading or using cooksimpl ("the App") you agree to these Terms.
1. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use cooksimpl. If you are between 13 and 17 years old, you may only use the App with the consent and supervision of a parent or legal guardian, who agrees to be responsible for any subscription purchases and activity conducted through the App.
2. Use of the App
cooksimpl uses AI to suggest recipes based on ingredients you photograph. Recipes are suggestions only — always use your own judgment regarding food safety, allergens, and dietary needs.
3. Subscriptions
cooksimpl offers monthly and annual auto-renewing subscriptions billed through your Apple ID.
- Free tier: a limited number of free recipe generations are included.
- Premium: unlimited generations, scans, and filters.
Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the current period ends. Manage or cancel anytime in your Apple ID subscription settings.
4. Refunds
All purchases are processed by Apple. Refund requests must be submitted through Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com. We will support legitimate refund requests in the event of a verified technical issue.
5. AI-Generated Content
Recipes are generated by AI and may occasionally contain errors or unsuitable suggestions. We are not responsible for any adverse outcomes from following AI-generated recipe content.
6. Nutritional Information
Nutritional values displayed in the app (calories, protein, fat, fiber, etc.) are sourced from third-party databases and AI estimates. These values are approximate and provided for informational purposes only. cooksimpl does not provide professional medical, dietary, or nutritional advice. Data may contain inaccuracies. Always consult a qualified healthcare professional for dietary guidance tailored to your personal health needs.
7. Your Content, Your Responsibility
You control what you photograph when scanning your fridge. Please only capture your own kitchen or food items — avoid including other people, documents, or anything unrelated to food. You are solely responsible for the photos and videos you submit, and cooksimpl is not responsible for content you choose to capture.
8. Intellectual Property
The cooksimpl app, its code, design, branding, trade dress, and all content — including but not limited to the recipe database, AI-generated recipes, recipe structures, ingredient combinations, step-by-step instructions, nutritional data, and the compilation thereof — are the exclusive intellectual property of cooksimpl and its owner, protected under applicable copyright, database rights, trade secret, and unfair competition laws.
Even where individual recipes may be AI-generated, the selection, structure, curation, organization, scoring logic, and presentation of recipe content as a whole constitutes an original copyrightable compilation and proprietary database under applicable law.
9. Prohibited Uses
The following are strictly prohibited without prior written consent from cooksimpl:
- Scraping or harvesting: Using any automated tool, bot, spider, crawler, script, or manual process to extract, copy, index, or collect recipes, ingredient data, nutritional information, or any other content from the App or its backend services.
- Commercial exploitation: Reproducing, selling, sublicensing, renting, leasing, or otherwise commercially exploiting any recipe content, recipe database, or proprietary data obtained through the App.
- Redistribution: Posting, publishing, broadcasting, or redistributing App content — including individual recipes, recipe sets, or database extracts — on any platform, website, application, or service, whether for commercial or non-commercial purposes, without written authorization.
- Reverse engineering: Decompiling, disassembling, decrypting, or otherwise attempting to derive the source code, algorithms, scoring logic, AI prompts, or database schema of the App or its associated services.
- Unauthorized API access: Accessing cooksimpl's backend APIs, Cloudflare Workers, or database endpoints outside of the official App without express written permission. Any access achieved by intercepting network traffic, bypassing authentication, or forging request headers is strictly prohibited.
- Database extraction: Downloading, copying, or reconstructing any portion of cooksimpl's recipe database through any means, including but not limited to systematic querying, traffic interception, or bulk API calls.
- Creating competing products: Using content, data, or insights derived from cooksimpl to build, train, or populate a competing product, service, or AI model.
- Circumventing access controls: Bypassing, disabling, or circumventing any technical measure implemented to protect content or control access to the App's services.
Violations may result in legal action including claims for copyright infringement, misappropriation of trade secrets, breach of contract, and injunctive relief. We reserve the right to seek all available remedies under applicable law.
10. Limitation of Liability
The App is provided "as is" without warranties. We are not liable for any damages arising from use of the App or reliance on AI-generated content.
11. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Québec and the laws of Canada applicable therein.
12. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms at any time. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance.
