cooksimpl ("we", "us", or "our") operates the cooksimpl mobile application (the "App"). This page describes how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you use our App and your rights regarding that information.

By using cooksimpl, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

1. Age Requirement

You must be at least 13 years old to use cooksimpl. If you are under 13, please do not use our App. If we become aware that a user under 13 has provided personal information, we will delete it promptly.

2. Information We Collect

• Camera & Photos: The App uses your device camera to scan fridge contents. Photos are sent to Google's Gemini AI for ingredient detection. We do not store your photos on our servers — they are processed in real-time and discarded.
• Food Preferences: Dietary preferences and recipe tags you select are stored locally on your device (Apple UserDefaults). We do not transmit this to our servers.
• Scan Count: We track how many times you've scanned, stored locally on your device only.
• Contact Info: If you contact us via email, we collect your email address and the content of your message to respond to you.

3. How We Use Your Information

• To analyze fridge photos and identify ingredients via Google Gemini AI
• To generate personalized recipes based on your ingredients and preferences
• To fetch recipe images via Google Custom Search or Unsplash
• To improve and optimize the App experience
• To respond to your support requests

4. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services that may process your data:

• Google Gemini AI — Processes your fridge photos to identify ingredients and generate recipes. See Google's Privacy Policy.
• Google Custom Search API — Used to fetch recipe images by name. No personal data is shared.
• Unsplash — Used to fetch food photography for recipes. See Unsplash's Privacy Policy.
• Apple App Store — In-app purchases and subscriptions are processed by Apple. See Apple's Privacy Policy.

5. Data Storage & Retention

We do not operate servers that store your personal data. All preferences and usage data are stored locally on your device. Photos sent for analysis are processed in real-time and not retained by us.

Data stored locally on your device is retained until you delete the App or clear its data through your device settings.

6. Children's Privacy

cooksimpl is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at support@cooksimpl.app and we will delete it.

7. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the following rights:

• Right to Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
• Right to Deletion: Request that we delete your personal data. Since all data is stored locally, uninstalling the App will remove it from your device.
• Right to Correction: Request that we correct inaccurate information about you.
• Right to Withdraw Consent: You can withdraw consent by uninstalling the App or contacting us.

8. Canadian & Québec Residents

If you reside in Canada, including Québec, you have additional rights under PIPEDA (Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act) and Québec's Law 25 (Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector):

• The right to access and correct your personal information
• The right to data portability (Québec residents)
• The right to de-indexation of your information (Québec residents)
• The right to withdraw consent at any time

9. Security

We implement appropriate technical measures to protect your information. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
